As a death doula, Hari specializes in supporting the dying, their families, and death care workers from marginalized communities, especially Black and queer communities. They have particular expertise with people dealing with cancer. They offer paperwork and logistics support, spiritual guidance, grief and loss counseling, funeral planning (including living funerals), and general end-of-life planning on a sliding scale. We will also explore alternative ways to provide safety, examining how the current systems perpetuate harm and injustice. The talk will provide a space for critical reflection, discussion, and learning. We will be challenged to think beyond the current systems and envision a world where safety and justice are achieved through alternative means.
